I added my 100 Things About Me... (it's in the side links). After unsuccessfully finding a text hosting site... I decided the easiest thing would be to just create another blog for the sole use of holding my 100 Things in a post. :) I'm flexible; plus this way I could keep the same template as my blog.
I had a pretty good day subbing. The kids were great and we had a very good day! I got home and found that I had received my new pictures from Lifetouch in the mail (we had church directory pictures taken 2 weeks ago and I ordered some)... as well as my NEW CERTIFICATE with my NEW LEVELS listed! :) The mailman was bringing them to the door when I got home (he couldn't fit the stuff in the mailbox w/o bending things) and he told me congrats again... he's the same mailman that delivered my diploma from UTSA and my first certificate... and his daughter is also trying to get a full time teaching job. However, that's not difficult to find around here these days!
So, we didn't do any decorating tonight because it has started raining. We're hoping it doesn't get too soggy before the morning so we can get everything done then... otherwise I have no idea when we'll finish everything! We all have so much going on...! Christmas is fast approaching and we're losing the weekend of the 15th because we'll be in Spring, TX babysitting Conner so that Rob and Kathy can go to his company Christmas party. Anyhow... enough for tonight. I hope a good weekend is had by all... perhaps I'll get some pictures of the decorations posted on here after the weekend... ;-)

New Template
I just couldn't get over the fact that my title wasn't on the other template. So I changed it. Take THAT "dots template." I can play God in this blog world and you've been eliminated. :-)
In other news, my Dad pooped out on me tonight and we're putting up all the outdoor Christmas Decor tomorrow! Blasphemy!
Also, I'm thinking of going to see "Across the Universe" for the 3rd time this weekend. I love the Beatles, and I REALLY loved the musical...
Lastly, I'm composing my 100 Things About Me... I just need to find a free text hosting thing to link it up once I'm done! :-)

Proud about being productive!
Today has proven to be a very productive day! I woke up early and helped my Dad finish hooking things up to the HD tv (he wanted the surround sound system hooked to the cable tv). After this I ate a quick breakfast, and then my Dad and I went to take care of the business with my cell phone. In February I cashed in on my instant $150 savings through Sprint to get a new phone. All they had in the price range I was looking at was flip phones... I've never had good experiences with flip phones... I think they're not made as well and have many more problems than their polar opposites.
Well, the left hinge of mine was cracked through... thankfully I have the full coverage insurance. So, my phone is being replaced "free" of charge. Har Har... I'm paying for a new phone in that monthly insurance fee. Anyhow, they will call me when I can go pick up the new one and replace all my charger cords and such as well as importing the address book from my old phone.
After this excursion my Dad and I headed to Garden Ridge to look for something new to add to the front yard decorations this year. We also bought new lights and some garland and all. Now I just need to go to the hobby store and buy some gold bows (if I can find them... I couldn't at Garden Ridge) and/or some ribbon to fashion some decorations out of.
After a mow of the lawn my Dad and I plan on stringing up at least the icicle lights and then we'll finish tomorrow after we're both home from work. I'm excited I get to go back and sub for a GREAT class tomorrow... plus their Friday is SUPER easy. I get at least 4 hours to myself due to them going to the computer lab and conference and lunch. It's a great time for me to catch up on my reading of the local paper! ;-) Hope everyone had a good Thursday... but I know we're all ready to say "T.G.I.F.!"

I'm back... with a (not) vengeance
Well, I took a LONG time away from blogging... a lot has been going on (plus I kinda strayed away because a lot of people I reconnected with were on myspace... this is a site that's like heroin... and I was posting blogs on there more than on the old It's Not Easy Bein' Green site). The quickest way I can think to catch up is by... well, just typing a short recap of the past couple years.
Well, I did finally graduate in May of 2006. I successfully completed my student teaching... graduated May 13th of 2006... and then applied for my TX state certification. All was going well... until I didn't have ANY interviews for jobs. I tried very hard to obtain a job in other school districts, to no avail. So, through advice from SEVERAL people in the field I decided to substitute teach. Well, this was okay... except I don't like the "up-in-the-air" aspect of it, at all! When it comes to teaching, I like to be prepared DAYS in advance as far as what's going on. So getting a call the morning of for a job isn't my cup of tea.
So, fast forward to May of 2007, where I went to the job fair of the school district I have been subbing in... and met with several principles... Then fast forward through the summer... where I didn't get ANY INTERVIEWS. Yeah... once again, Kelsie has no full time teaching job. She spent 6 years slaving away in school to get her degree and certification, but she can't get a job! This is despite applying to 15 school districts across the state... going as far as Austin and Spring, TX...!
So, fast forward again to October 1st, where I decided to add another school district to my roster of subbing. Yes, that's right... 2 school districts. Although, the 2nd is much smaller, in a more rural area... where there's MUCH better chance to build quick rapport with school faculty and obtain a job. Okay... fast forward one last time to November 16th (Friday before Thanksgiving) and that's when I took my 4-8 Generalist exam so that I'm not only certified to 4th grade anymore... now I can teach through 8th grade. I finally decided that it would be easier for me to obtain a job if I spread my reach a bit more. So, as of Monday this week, it was official that I could teach a classroom of 8th graders (not really my cup of tea... but I decided that I could put up with that for half a year or so, to be able to transfer within a district to an open elementary spot).
Well, that brings us to current days. I continue to be hopeful, but I know I'm not the only one. In San Antonio alone, for this school year, there were over 6,000 applicants... for about 1,000-1,500 jobs! You do the math! For every ONE elementary school position that opens... there are DOZENS of applicants... and I fall in the middle of the totem pole because I don't have "real" classroom experience. They don't count student teaching. SO... I keep trudging on... the worst part about it is, due to the financial burden I've encountered by not having a full time job and making extremely unstable pay (it varies month to month)... I have had to move BACK to my parents... with dog and cat in tow.
The only good thing that's happened in the midst of all this is that I became an AUNT! Conner Ray is my gorgeous little nephew... and he's wonderful! I waited a long time for that little booger. I take it back, other good things happened... like my faith grew MOUNTAINS... I have to rely on God to provide for me... and have faith that he will place me in a job that he needs me in... and I found out which friends were true friends... and saw the unconditional love of the family I have been blessed with.
It is my hope that I can vent on here to make sure that I don't get too downhearted about life and it's challenges. And to once again reconnect with other bloggers I fell out of touch with.
Peace, Love, Happiness
