Flag Football, Church, Pumpkins, and the 80's

Lots has been going on lately! Last weekend was Dustin's last flag football game. He really improved over the season and is running so much better :) Cute little guy, it's hard to believe he's growing up so fast sometimes! From there, we went and grabbed some lunch, then went and made an appearance at his team's end of season party at BIGZ. Seems like an interesting place, I'll have to try it out sometime. Then we went out to Fiesta TX. Had a good time walking around the park seeing all the Halloween decorations, and I took care of getting my season pass processed (yes, I know I'm SUPER late on that). Now I can go during the Christmas season... I love how pretty it is there all decorated and nice. :) After a couple hours at Fiesta TX we went on to church.

At church, Robert Emmit has been talking about the 1st and 2nd books of Timothy. So far, I've really enjoyed the messages (there have been 2). Last night I met up with a new guy that I'm getting to know for church (he goes to the same church, just a different service). The message was a good one, even though Robert wasn't there b/c of a wedding, so we watched a taped sermon. That was kind of strange. But otherwise it was a good sermon. :) From there we went on and grabbed some dinner at Panera and just sat there and talked, literally for hours. Never a lull in conversation. It's amazing how comfortable I feel when talking to him. Anyhow, we're going to church again next weekend.

This past week my kiddos and I opened up a pumpkin, and then I carved a face in the pumpkin. :) They all got a chance to feel the 'pumpkin guts' and they had a BLAST! It was cute when we told them how many seeds were inside. Some of them guessed there would be a MILLION. Some guessed 5 or 6, and a couple guessed 1 or 2. So when we counted 475 and told them, their little jaws dropped! Tomorrow we're going to do a bunch of Halloween crafts, it's going to be fun!

This past week was also Red Ribbon Week at school for Drug Awareness. Each day was a different theme. Monday we wore solid red accessories or clothes. Tuesday we wore PAJAMAS! Weds was "Career Day" so the kids dressed up like different careers (one of my girls was a Weather Girl; cutest. costume. ever.) Thursday was Athletic/Sports Day. And Friday was BLAST TO THE PAST! So, I got out my old crimping iron, my old scrunch socks, and a black tshirt with bright neon print! I rocked the side pony tail, some pink blush, and bright blue eyeshadow! lol The kids LOVED my hair. Speaking of hair, I need to get my hair done this coming weekend. :) I will have to call and schedule it.

For Halloween tomorrow I'm dressing up like a Hippie. Again. But this time, I don't have to wear that horrible wig because my hair is really long now. I'll just braid in a few braids and wear my peace sign necklace/rose colored glasses. That's all I have for now! I'll update more soon!!!

I need a slap on the wrist with a ruler...

Because I'm terrible about updating! lol Things have been going pretty well. I'm shocked at how fast this school year is going by!!! We are 4 weeks away from Thanksgiving break!!!!! Crazy! I can't believe we are a little over a week away from Halloween already. My little students are SO excited about Halloween. Next week our theme is pumpkins and Halloween. One of the days I'm going to bring in a big pumpkin to carve open so they can all have a chance to feel what's inside. Not all of them have gotten to mess with pumpkin guts. I'm sure they'll have fun with the sensory of it! Other than work life is going okay... just BUSY BUSY BUSY! :-) I will hopefully update again before a month passes by!

Home Sweet Home

Well, vacation was nice and restful and very much needed after the stress and emotional Friday/weekend we had! It was good to spend time with Rob, Kathy, and Conner and we all had a great time. Conner LOVES the swimming pool and it was fun to see how much he's learned in swimming lessons.

While on vacation I started Water for Elephants. I finished it in 2 days, it was a GREAT book. Now I'm going to see the movie this week because it's playing at our theater here in town that runs movies about 3 weeks later than all the others. I don't know if it'll still be out after Thursday, so I'm going to see it sometime before then. I started reading The Hunger Games late Saturday night and it's been great so far. I would've probably finished it today, but I got preoccupied in getting plans together to do some cleaning here at the house.

I'm going to move to the bigger bedroom because I will be getting my new memory foam mattress this week, and I got a queen. Not a LOT bigger than the full size bed I currently have, but enough that it'd make a difference in the shoebox-sized room I'm currently living in. So, I am weeding things out of my closets and drawers because the closet is smaller in the other room.

I've also decided to upgrade my CPU a bit. It's just been sitting in that room because I do not have it connected to the internet; now that I have the WiFi going in my parents' house, I decided to go ahead and get a USB network adapter for my computer and hook it to the internet that way. I'm going to upgrade and get a flat panel monitor and could possibly update the RAM (haven't decided on that yet). I'm also still considering upgrading to Windows Vista or Windows 7. Don't know if I want to shell out the money just yet... it will run fine with XP for now... maybe I'll wait until the price comes down a bit on Windows. :)

So, I'm all set... and in the middle of all of this, I'm doing laundry and re-packing my bag for CANADA! :-) I leave Saturday morning and come back Weds night. I'm SUPER excited to see Rick... I've missed him so much. I talk to him frequently on the phone so it's not like I haven't talked to him, but I haven't gotten to give him a hug or sit in the same room with him since December 2009! :( LONG overdue to see him!

I didn't take pictures at the beach; with a 3.5 year old running around constantly, I don't always remember to get out my camera. I did however take a couple pics with my phone. Maybe I'll put them up after a while... but honestly, I'm so focused on trying to get everything done this week that I want to get done, I probably won't remember!

Until next time...

The end....

Well, today is basically the last day with my students. I say this because tomorrow is a half day, and we're really only having our end of the year party! Today will be used to do a HECK of a lot of cleaning... the kids are going to clean out their desks totally, and I'm going to get rid of a BUNCH more books!!! NOW, I'm ready for this year to wrap up... I've been packing stuff from my classroom and I should be able to get all of it out by TOMORROW! I'm kind of shocked, because I didn't think I'd actually be this productive. Then thankfully, our workday Saturday is only a half day! WOOHOO! :-) Ready to be finished, ready to be finished, ready to be finished!!!!

Tuesday I'll be in Port Aransas... then I go to Toronto to visit friends in Canada from June 18-22... :) BRING ON THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!

Almost over

Well, obviously I've neglected this blog quite a lot this school year. It's been an adventure to say the least. Very time consuming year, but that has caused it to go by SUPER quick. This week should move pretty quickly... we'll be wrapping up reading Charlotte's Web as a class and then will watch the movie Friday :) The kids are excited! They were very excited to read the book together. We'll have our field day next week, awards ceremonies, and our end of the year party.

This has been an emotional year. Due to the TX financial budget set by congress, education got a much smaller cut of money. Due to this, this wonderful teacher is being let go due to a RIF. :( Yay. There's a chance I'll get brought back (because of retirements/resignations/etc.) but there's also a possibility I won't have my job next year. Meh. I haven't really got much more to say about it. Unfortunately that's how it goes.

I've had a very tumultuous year; especially being in and out of the cardiologists office. LOVE THAT. (note sarcasm) I can't tell you how great it is to be a 29 year old woman with ventricular tachycardia (arrhythmia)... stress at work definitely didn't help things. If I didn't know better, my loss of job could be God telling me to slow down and find something else? Who knows... time will tell.

I have a new blog I just started recently. After my diagnosis and treatment, I decided to start up an aquarium. My mom started one back when I was in elementary school and she was the caretaker of it. It was a 10 gallon. I decided to get into the hobby because she didn't care to do any more of the upkeep and I wanted more/new fish. So, I got a 20 gallon, and I've already gone through my first illness in the tank with only 2 casualties out of 12 fish... pretty good odds. Anyhow, I'm really into it... and all the dorky ins and outs which included testing the water regularly to make sure that the ammonia and pH levels stay in the right ranges. :) Satisfies that scientist in me, and I love watching the fish play in the bubble wall in there. I'll eventually post a video of the fish in the tank. Anyhow, maybe I'll actually update regularly when summer begins. We're on the single digit count down now! After tomorrow there will only be 7.5 days of school (w/kiddos anyway) left!

Today in the world of a teacher...

I actually am proud of myself for putting away every last bit of the clean laundry! I HATE putting it away... I love sorting it and loading it... but hate putting it all away. I don't even mind FOLDING it, but the hanging of stuff and the actual putting it away in drawers/the closet bugs me! Hopefully I'll keep this trend during the week and be proactive in getting grading done as the week goes by, instead of leaving a lot for the weekend. I'm usually pretty good about getting grading done during the week... we'll see. I'm still feeling run down... don't know why, just am... I'll have to let my cardiologist know when I go on the 31st that I'm still feeling symptoms at rest, before I fall asleep... which makes falling asleep and sleeping well next to impossible. :(

Also, I do realize I never finished my countdown thing... haha Maybe I'll get around to it before the next holiday season!

Things are getting to crunch time. I'm realizing a lot of things about the kiddos in my class. Like, a lot of them aren't taking this school year seriously. They think they can race to finish work and turn in stuff that they can't even explain because they didn't read the directions. And yes, I'm aware most of them can't read on grade level... which is why I spend a good 5 minutes explaining exactly what they have to do to complete assignments... and then I still have half the class asking what to do, because they weren't paying attention when I gave the directions for 5 minutes. I'm starting to not know what to do about it! :( I've talked to parents, I'm signing folders... AND STILL NOTHING CHANGES! I've even told some parents that I will not send their child on to 4th grade if I don't feel they're ready for it... and STILL NOTHING CHANGES AGAIN! What is wrong with the world...???? When did we become a society that wants EVERYTHING done for us...??? What are we teaching our children??? Shouldn't we be teaching them to work hard and strive for the very best... not to expect it to be just given to them? **end rant** I'm going to bed so I can function and TRY to do my job tomorrow!

12 Days of Christmas

Since I've been TERRIBLE about blogging as of late, I thought I'd try something kind of fun and hope I can actually keep up with it!

This is the 12 Days of Christmas blogging challenge!

DAY 1: Christmas/Holiday Traditions

Every holiday season we have a few traditions as a family. 1) We go to Christmas Eve service. Growing up in church and having close friends at church, it was always a time to exchange Christmas gifts with very good friends of mine :) Though we don't always hold true to this now that we are adults, my good church friends and I still exchange gifts to this day. :) 2) We always meet up with my Dad's side of the family and exchange gifts with everyone... and we all eat lots of tamales! 3) We search for the pickle ornament in the tree. This is something we've added recently. 4) We have Christmas dinner and hang out with my mom's side of the family ON CHRISTMAS DAY! :) Usually we open gifts and then eat breakfast, although it always differs from year to year now depending on if my brother, sis-in-law, and nephew are with us for Christmas. Because her family lives in Kansas, they alternate Thanksgiving and Christmas every other year. I can't wait for Christmas this year because I can spoil my sweet 3 year old nephew even more!

Day 1: Christmas/Holiday traditions
Day 2: Black Friday/General Shopping Tips & Tricks
Day 3: Most meaningful gift/best gift you've received
Day 4: Tips/Tricks to a Budget Friendly holiday season
Day 5: Favorite Holiday Movie/TV Show Special
Day 6: Gift ideas (what do YOU want? We all have family/friends reading our blogs...so let them know!)
Day 7: Holiday Craft/DIY (If you don't make anything, what do you WISH you could make?)
Day 8: Least favorite thing about the Holidays
Day 9: Favorite Holiday recipe
Day 10: Favorite Christmas Songs/Caroles
Day 11: New Year Resolutions
Day 12: Show us your decorations (indoor/outdoor)
Day 13: Favorite Cookie Recipe
Day 14: Oprah's Favorite

:)

I made it through week 2 and to my first 3 day weekend. :) This 3 day weekend is welcomed, believe me! I have a few papers to grade, but I'm putting that off til tomorrow. I went out yesterday and spent some time with Daughn. We did some shopping at Ross (spent about 2 hours there) and just had some good laughs. Then she, Damian, and I went out to Seguin because they had to pick Dustin up from Memaw and Popo. We hung out on the back deck for a bit and talked and then finally headed back to San Antonio around 11pm. When I got home, I couldn't fall asleep right away. I showed my mom some of the things I found at Ross (I'm always pleased with my purchases! Getting ready to wash these now) and then just kinda hung out til I fell asleep. Then my internal alarm clock went off this morning about a quarter til 6... I was able to go back to sleep and woke up about 8:45. We were supposed to all go out to Landa Park's spring-fed pool today, but Daughn's lost her voice and isn't feeling well, so we're just going to hang out at her house this afternoon. Anyhow, that's my quick update. I promise I'll have a more thought-provoking post sooner than later.

Being up late inspires me, I guess

It inspires me to actually keep up with my blog. And to blog about how I have no earthly idea how exactly I'm going to get back on schedule with my sleeping patterns. As of late, I have been up til about 2-4am and waking up anywhere between 7:30-noon. Yeah, you read that right... NOON. And sometimes when I have those days in which I wake up at 7:30, I go back to sleep til at least 10am. :)

This will not be very easy to break in a couple weeks. Really I need to break it TOMORROW, because I technically should try to get up to the school and move stuff from one room to the other. But when I spoke to the Head Custodian last week, he said he'd still be working in our hallway this week. So I'm going off that... maybe I'll go on Friday afternoon for a bit and move as much as I can. Then next week I can go up day by day and move things a little at a time, and then FINALLY start organizing and decorating. I've been working on things at home in the meantime. I need to go to Walmart tomorrow. Again. I need pencil pouches for 3 ring binders. :)

Let's talk about how I was super bored tonight because I lacked the entertainment of my texting buddy. :( It was quite sad. He's away on business right now, but he also was not feeling well this evening... and so I told him to go to bed and quit attempting to have a conversation with me when he clearly did not feel well. Bless him for trying, though. I also may have underestimated the way things are going between us. Yes, I'm speaking of the match I made on web dating. The one that I really and truly thought was not really very interested in me as more than a friend. However, when I was talking to him last night whilst we were watching 27 Dresses (it was on FX) they had a commercial for the site which matched us, and he said something about, "yay for being a percentage statistic and building a lasting relationship!" Hmmm... something to ponder. Maybe he's just being very thorough. Which I kinda knew from the get-go. And maybe the incident which occurred before made him realize that it's better to trust what's already going on rather than being 'linked' to someone by a friend. Sometimes those websites actually know what they're doing. I don't know. It all doesn't really matter anyway because I have prayed about all this, and I've placed it in God's hands. I know that He has a plan for me, and that things will happen as they should... when it's the right season for it. :) I honestly have a lot on my plate right now... so it's probably good that it's moving semi-slow. But again, we'll see in time what is in store for me.

Lastly... I think I'm off to bed... it's almost 1... it's time to start attempting sleep!

I'm a Terrible Liar

This is my conclusion upon realizing my last post was PRE-Eclipse with the promise to give an update the following day... which clearly I didn't do. HAHA I've seen it again since then, also... on the IMAX screen... 72 Feet of Edward-yumminess! It was fantastic... and the fighting/sparring scenes were FANTABULOUS!!!

In other news I've begun getting things ready for the school year...! I am going to start making some lanyards for a couple people at work ;) Also, I still have not completely decided on what to do with the whole curtain thing in my classroom... I think I may just BUY curtains... I don't think I have enough fabric left for curtains... I'll use that fabric for something else... not sure yet... but something. I also need to purchase a couple twin size sheets in fun colors (should be easy with all the dorm/college stuff out now) for bulletin boards! And I plan on getting myself to Lakeshore at some point too... Walmart will be my friend soon... I'm going to get some extra supplies for class and I'm making M.O.N.K.E.Y. books for each of my students as a take-home folder system. I really want to splurge and get a box system so that each of my students has a box to pick up their handouts from like HW and school papers, etc. SOOOO many ideas.

Also, my birthday is in a couple weeks... :) I'll be 29 on the 29th. Exciting... AND, for my birthday my parents got me the best present ever... I had been looking to buy a new bicycle and found one... I was going to pay for it myself, but my mom said they wanted to do that for my birthday. No cost to me... and I'm so excited to get out there and ride around! :)

Alternate Life

That's right... I have an alternate life... an alter ego, if you will. :) On World of Warcraft haha One of my friends plays a lot, and he suggested I try it out. So, lo and behold, they are offering a 10 day free trial. Which clearly means, after 10 days I will add the full version and play, because I played yesterday and I'm addicted!!!!!! I blame my friend!

Other than that I went out last night with my little bro (cousin Craig) to see him while he's in town before he heads back to St. Louis, MO for seminary. I can't believe he's been in seminary a year! Time sure does fly! But this is a good thing, because it means he's going to finish faster than I realize, and hopefully move back to TX to preach. That'd be nice. I hope he marries the girl he met there and is dating. She's fantastic. She joined us last night, and I already love her like a sis!

I can't wait for tomorrow!!! I'm taking Dustin to see Toy Story 3, and while I think I would've rather seen the Shrek movie, he is COMPLETELY excited that he and I are going to go hang out together and have fun and it's TOO CUTE! I'm ready to buy him some Sour Patch Kids and popcorn and have a fantastic little adventure.

I also really need to go up to the school so that I can check out my *new* room and move some things over. If I were smart I'd go both tomorrow AND Thursday... but UGH... that requires waking up early and going to the school around 9am... that's early for me as of late.

Ah well... that's life! But I AM excited to make my curtains for my WINDOW in my classroom... and also to make the little pouches for at student desks! WOOHOO!

Summer is in full swing!

Well, it's summer now! I'm enjoying my vacation... although I may be going to the school tomorrow morn to move some things from my newly acquired room, to the OTHER new room I've acquired. lol Yes, that's right... I'm being moved again. But I'm fairly certain I'll have a window in this room, so I'm okay with the move! lol

Last week I went to Port Aransas, TX with my family for a family vacation. We were there 7 days and it was FANTABULOUS! :) Just not long enough. However, I'm glad to be back home... and even though I have like 4 loads of laundry to do, I'm glad I can relax at home. This morning I went to the grocery store not really intending to grab a lot of stuff, but I ended up buying a lot of "summer food" such as frozen pizza, taquitos, and other scrumptious items. I've been sleeping in til at least 8:30 every day (which is GREAT) and I'm looking forward to hitting up Splashtown and Fiesta Texas a lot this summer. I am determined to not be as pale-legged as in the past after this summer passes! haha

Things this month I'm looking forward to: Moving AGAIN! Making curtains for my classroom to cover various areas in there (shelves and such), making book cases with my dad for in my classroom, painting/decorating those book cases, possibly making some storage things for the kids in my class, going to the teacher stores and buying some pocket charts and stuff for the class!

Treading Water

I feel as if I'm just treading water until the last day at this point. We have 13-1/2 days left, and a LOT of things to turn in and trainings to take and all sorts of things going on. I found out on Friday that I may be moving to 3rd grade for next year. Not set in stone yet, but the possibility is there. And thus I've decided that I need to spend some time in the classroom next weekend cleaning and packing for potential moving. I needed to clean and pack for storing anyway... but if there's any possibility I may have to move stuff to a different classroom, I want to be ready! We'll have a half day work day on the 4th, and then the 5th (yes, a SATURDAY) is our mandatory work day... that's when I have to FINISH cleaning/packing/storing. And then the 6th, my family and I will be leaving for Port Aransas for a week. :) So, as tired as I'll be on Saturday, I get to come home and pack my bags for vacay.

Doesn't look like I will be taking a personal day from here on out. Just no time to do that! Everything's fast paced from here on out. This week we'll be studying for their CBA tests, and then Friday is Field Day. Next week, they have CBA's and they'll have their taste testing for the class cookbook project we're working on. That's a little every day, and presentations involved. Then the following week we have Monday off for Memorial Day, and then we have just 3 and a half days that week... which will be taken up doing cleaning, and having some fun. I'm pretty sure this Friday we're having the kids watch Finding Nemo. We have the TEKS for showing it, and we can justify showing it to wrap up our habitats/life cycles/adaptations units in science that we've covered the past 12 weeks. :) SOOOO ready for school to be over! I'm ever thankful that I have a job now... and I LOVE it... even with all the struggles and challenges... but I am SO READY for a break! Kinda bummed I may not be working with the same team next year, though... but maybe I won't be moving after all... just have to wait and see!

What a week!

Well, let's see... I started the week off battling allergies. We got a good downpour last weekend, and so the results were a WHOLE lot of mold afterwards. The counts were 'heavy' for about 3 days, and I could REALLY tell. I think I've become more highly allergic to mold in the past few years... anyhow, I was sneezing and all stuffy nosed... it was not pleasant. Then Weds morning I woke up and felt sick to my stomach as soon as I started eating breakfast. I got sick a couple times before going into work. I was going to try and just make it through the day, but when I got sick a couple more times in the morning before the kids came in, I went down to the office and asked them to get me a sub for the day. I went back to my room and got things ready, and then I headed on out after getting the kids settled (not without getting sick yet another time before leaving)... when I came home, I still felt really icky... I spent the day in bed, and recuperated as best I could for Thursday (which was like my Friday due to Battle of the Flowers!). I went yesterday, still not feeling 100%. The cutest thing said yesterday was by one of my students that asked, "If you're not 100%, are you more like 88%???" haha Anyhow, it was a fairly easy day. I got things ready to go, and basically all we did all day was study a released math test in preparation for state testing. I feel like I've prepared them as best I can.

Okay, so today on the plate is a handful of grading (thankfully I input more grades then I needed last week, which gives me a break this week...!) and then I plan on showering, getting out and doing a bit of shopping, and then I'm going for pedis with Daughn and to grab some dinner, then we'll watch The Blind Side. Tomorrow night is poker, so we'll probably hang out then as well! :) SUPER excited about that. Somewhere in this long weekend I need to do laundry. Unfortunately I only have 1 Elolf shirt. I'm going to email my principal today and see if there's a way I can purchase a shirt from PTO on Monday so that I have another to wear. It's annoying to have to wash a shirt in a night so I can wear it again the next day! LOL

Hope everyone enjoys their 3 day weekend if they are here in San Antonio! Viva Fiesta, and hope you've enjoyed any of the events you have gone or will go to!

Sunday, April 11, 2010

I need a vacation

Or at least a stay-cation. After state testing is over, I am taking a personal day... on a FRIDAY! HA! I will need the break... I don't know exactly for sure what I'll do... but sleeping in and just spending the day at home sounds good to me. :) The good thing I can say about state testing is we have a 3 day weekend right before. :) Just enough time for me to get a little bit of relaxation in.

In other news, I'm LOVING my new car. :) I'm LOVING life in general. :-D I can't really think of anything profound to blog about today.... I think my brain is fried from all the grading this week! Anyhow, now I shall go get ready... we have to go sit with my Gma today while everyone else is taking care of various engagements they have today. Then we I get back I have the wonderful task of trying to find time to run to the grocery store and maybe Costco! Yay! It never ends!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

:) A new thing to make me happy!

Here it is! My new car :) I love it so much!

Another thing to make me happy... I'm going to Steph's tonight to watch Twilight and New Moon! :) We're eating mushroom ravioli with salad and cheesy garlic bread. :) I don't know about dessert, but I'm seriously thinking of picking up a cheesecake or something on the way over!

Tomorrow is the day

That I pick up my brand new car... more details later!

♪♪New... you're so new... you... you're new♪♪

Good job if you caught onto the lyrics for my title. :) I'll be looking at and test driving cars tomorrow afternoon with my dad. I'm tired of my car crapping out on me. Yes, I could fix the problems with my car and hold onto it for a couple more years... but the way I look at it is, why invest in something I'd only keep a couple more years? And it's a Saturn, so if I encounter any more problems in the next couple years, it will not be easy to repair it because they are no longer in production, which means parts won't be easy to come by... at least not at a reasonable price.

So I've settled on trying out a few cars. I'll be looking at the Ford Edge

I love the look of the car. It's a crossover, so it's kind of a mix between a sedan and an SUV. It sort of reminds me of the Lexus SUVs that are out... not so boxy, a more curvy back end. I like the look of the car. Bare in mind any of the vehicles I look at will most likely be a certified pre-owned... new to me, not necessarily new. :) But this is a definite forerunner!

Next up I plan on looking at the Mercury Mariner.

It's a more boxy vehicle. Sort of reminds me of a Jeep in the look of it. It's a very similar vehicle to the Ford Escape (in size and interior) just the "higher end" vehicle. Mercury and Ford and sister companies, so what do you expect? It would be relatively inexpensive for me to even purchase a brand new Mariner, although that's not very important to me, so I don't mind getting a car that's 2 years older, for $6-7,000 less!!!

Lastly, I would like to look at the Ford Escape.
Also similar to a Jeep in appearance. I'll look at it just because a good friend of mine has a Ford Escape and loves hers, and hasn't had any issues with it. Also because it's an inexpensive option, and I would like to keep my monthly payments under $350, and this would be a good option for that! :)

So think of me in my vehicle quest! :) And I'll keep my song stuck in my head as I look! :-D

"But I was defending her honor!!!!!!!!!!"

I just love hearing stories from my old campus about the kiddos I used to work with. One has been very weepy because I'm not there anymore... he'll eventually swing out of it, but he's got a lot going on right now, and my leaving came at a bad time (unfortunately) for him.

My other kiddo has a problem on occasion with keeping his hands to himself. He is a pretty cool little guy... I just got a bunch of stuff autographed by the Ghost Lab (from Discovery Channel) team for him to try and earn... incentives! At any rate, he's been a lot better about hitting, but apparently he hit someone last week, and his response to "why" he had done it was he thought someone had pushed down a girl in his class. "You know you're not supposed to hit people... you're supposed to let a teacher know about it so they can take care of it." And his response???

"But I was DEFENDING HER HONOR!!!!! I WAS DEFENDING HER HONOR!!!!!!!" :) He makes me smile.

Here I am

Friday night and what am I doing? After watching Temple Grandin (which I taped about a week ago on HBO... great movie by the way!) I'm now cutting up card stock for my word wall words so that when I go up to campus tomorrow for a bit, I will assemble my word wall. It needs to be done... I need to add a BUNCH more words to it, too... but I'll do that as time goes by! What else am I working on? Not much... sub plans, I guess... since I'll be having a sub half a day on Wednesday and a full day Thursday.
