When do you ask your friends to stop?

Think back to when you were single... not necessarily unhappily... and think back to when your friends were constantly trying to find you a man/woman. Think about how after awhile, when like, 3-4 friends start doing this, it starts getting old.

Yup... this is my predicament. I'm single. Yes, this is 2 years now that I've been single (not that I haven't dated... just that I haven't been "in a relationship" in 2 years)... and I'm not UNHAPPY about that! Sure, I stop and think, "If I found someone I could be this happy with... or happier... I'd welcome it." But I'm not going to just go out of my way to force a relationship right now. For one, I don't feel I'm in a financial or a mental capacity to do such. I'm trying to get everything in my life in the order I want it in before I commit to being that deeply involved with someone again. It would be nice to not have to introduce myself as a substitute teacher, also...! :)

But, back on track, I have a handful of friends that are constantly trying to recommend guys to set me up with. And, moreover, they're people I honestly think are out of my "league" for lack of a better term. It started with one of my very good friends... and when she'd make suggestions I'd laugh it off... telling her she was nuts. Then she did actually start creating interactions between me and friends of her hubby... that's fine... I can deal with that... I don't mind making more friends, that's for sure. But then more friends began suggesting people.... 3 more, exactly... and quite honestly, I'm tired of all my married friends outwardly showing me that there's apparently something wrong with me because I'm not in a relationship. I'm happy where I'm at now... and my faith has grown mountains (which I see absolutely nothing wrong with!).

Here's the deal... I don't know how to tell them to stop... at least not in a nice way. However, I fear that if I let this go on much longer, I'm going to explode on one or more of them and yell at them in regards to this issue. So, suggestions? How do I nicely say... "I'm happily single right now... no more suggestions are needed" when I've tried that way and it hasn't gotten through...?????

Good Weekend

Well, this weekend turned out to be really great despite the way it started. Friday morning, bright and early, I got up and got ready to take Mozart to the vet for her surgery. I was quite worried in the back of my head, knowing that she has had allergic reactions at the vet before... so I really was worried! I got her to the vet, and had her in her carrier... she was VERY quiet... which is a first for her because she normally is very vocal (and even with a cat sitting within 5 feet of her she wasn't making a PEEP)! When I called and made the appointment for her surgery 2 weeks ago, the only thing the lady told me was to take her food and water away at midnight the night before the surgery. After I let her know about the allergic reaction she had she came around to get her from me and said I could pick her up in the morning. WHAT?!?! I was under the impression I'd get to pick her up that afternoon... that's how it was when we took the family cat (Boco) a few years ago... so I was shocked. I asked when I could call to inquire about how she did... the lady told me after 11am.

I got home and I just cried. I was worried, and I was terribly sad that I wasn't going to get her back that day. Not to mention, we were heading to Spring the next day and the lady told me I could pick her up sometime before noon (very vague) and I knew that I might end up staying behind if it ended up being a late pick up time b/c they'd have to be at Rob and Kathy's by a certain time. Anyhow... I cried for a long time that morning... seriously close to a couple hours... and then I called over to the vet about a quarter to noon. I was told she did fine and that I could most likely pick up my baby around 9am.

Everything worked out great as far as picking her up went (although, I didn't quite like the vet bill and it's considerable inflation due to keeping pets overnight after such procedures (it went up nearly 50%!)...but I suppose it was worth it... she got some rest that way. She stayed kenneled in my brother's garage Saturday... and did GREAT!

Saturday we had a GREAT day visiting with the family... and it was SO MUCH FUN to babysit Conner that night while his mommy and daddy went to their Christmas party! He did great... we gave him his bottle after changing him into his night clothes... and I got to give him his bottle and burp him... and then got to rock him while his grandma read him a couple stories before bedtime. We put him to bed, and he was out in about 30 minutes... and slept until 7:30ish! After we got home yesterday I went over to Daughn/Damian's to watch the Survivor finale... and it was good to see the two of them... I hadn't seen them in a few days!

This week not much is going on... not many teachers are taking off with it being the last week before 2 weeks off... so I plan on finishing cleaning the house with my mom (everyone on my dad's side is coming over Saturday for gift exchange) and finishing up the last bit of shopping and wrapping presents. I also need to get a few cards in the mail. Other than that... not much is going on! I hope everyone is having a GREAT week!

Semi-busy

I'm keeping semi-busy. I subbed for a friend of mine (who I know from UTSA) today. Her class this year is a bunch of really sweet kiddos! Anyhow... I added a link to the Fotki site I set up... it's still VERY MUCH under construction. I have to tap into my computer and transfer stuff from it (I've just been using my parents' computer thus far). Anyhow... not much else is going on... just subbing... I think I'm going to try and get some Christmas shopping done tomorrow... otherwise I'll run outta time! :)

Full days, and keeping busy...

Well, yesterday was kind of a 'blah' day. I had a scheduled sub job that got cancelled on Tuesday... so I ended up being free. I didn't do anything more than a few things around the house like laundry and some cleaning in my room. I also baked a trial batch of sugar cookies from scratch (trying to get things in order before all the baking I'll be doing for Xmas presents). I ended the day by watching the Spurs game... and they won! Woohoo! They beat Dallas! Then Ricky called me and we talked for over 2 hours. Haven't done that in awhile... with him being in LA and 2 hrs behind our time... we usually don't get to talk much.

Today I did a few more things around the house. More cleaning in my room... then my Dad came home early... rested a bit (because he wasn't feeling great) and then we went outside to attempt finishing the front yard display. We're about 3 mini trees and some red lights away from being DONE! :) Thank GOODNESS! I also scheduled my oil change at Saturn for tomorrow morning at 8. I really hope that I can get in and out of there quickly in the morning... because after that I wanted to go get my hair cut. After that, I need to hit the grocery store with my mom.

This weekend there's not TOO much going on. Hopefully I'll be able to get the other things I need to get done in a very relaxed pace. I have a handful of chores to do (everyone's coming here for Christmas gift exchange with the family... and thus, we're trying to do a little cleaning and preparation at a time). We really need to get the tree up and decorated... and I need to get a lot of this stuff done because I fully intend on subbing as much as possible next week and then Mozart's surgery is on Friday. So, I want to make sure I have things ready to deal with her recouperation next weekend (she's coming in a kennel to Spring with us when we go to babysit Conner).

I think I'm up to date with the happenings right now. :)

Resolution... of some kind

Well, the phone charger thing got fixed. Sort of. I got a charger that plugs into an outlet, but the girl I spoke with today wouldn't authorize giving me a car charger. I made the argument that I bought one (not really, it was a complimentary add on I got from the guy at a different store) for my old phone... that it wasn't my fault my old phone broke. And that if I got a replacement phone, that I should get replacement equipment/devices for it. Especially if I had been told if I turned my other one in I would get one to work for the new phone. She didn't buy it... and expressed further that even if she agreed to give me one, they didn't have any there. I pointed out she could give me a voucher to get it from another location. She said no. And thus, I lost the battle. I figured I didn't want to push my luck with these stupid people... and plus the guy (who's now the store manager) that told me last year I was "hearing things" when there was a very OBVIOUS loose piece inside my phone was sitting one little kiosk away. I really think that's the only reason she made any kind of big deal about it. Anyhow, my final word was, "I'm already paying for this "replacement" phone in the insurance fee monthly, you'd think the least you could do is not want to suck another $35 out of me for a car phone charger... especially now that you can turn around and re-sell the one I turned in yesterday." All I got was a blank stare. Anyhow, I'm off to bed now... I'm pooped!

I'm TICKED

I got my replacement phone today... it actually came a day early! :) Sprint was on my list this time last year... but I'm okay with them now... everything was very hassle-free... and they replaced my car charger for free... :)

---------------------
Update: I am no longer "happy" as I was before. It turns out I'm going to have to shoot another day to Hell and go BACK to Sprint. The phone charger they gave me DOES NOT WORK. The new phone they gave me is NEARLY DEAD. This means, I will have no phone VERY soon unless I fix this problem. I was a bit uneasy when I saw they gave me a "Sprint Universal" charger, rather than giving me a charger that came with the phone... the phone didn't even come in a new box... I now suspect this is a badly refurbished phone. The fact that it's jumping from being "completely charged" to "nearly dead" with 3 key strokes doesn't speak well of the phone and it's quality. This is far worse for them in this situation... because now that I'll be going back to the store tomorrow... I can pretty much assure I will NOT be happy. I will be totally civil and won't necessarily make a scene... but I probably will be indirectly rude about things. I feel like things should have been done right the first time... the fact that it wasn't makes me upset... and I'm glad that I now have to throw away ANOTHER day of work to deal with this (and I don't get paid that much a day at that... so it matters!) is what makes me most upset. However, if I don't fix this problem I'll miss even MORE work as the system calls my CELL NUMBER for jobs... I'm pissed... and therefore I have totally changed this post and it's mood...

I've been counting down the days... and it's FINALLY here!

I've been counting down the days to when the MASTERMIND from Sherman Oaks, CA posted his new Christmas Lights Display show on youtube... and I had an email late last night. Thought I'd share the video here... It's really amazing that someone would love Christmas this much... but I am not complaining!
